Team Outlook
Arp  - Coach Dale Irwin (4-7-0) at Arp and (9-12-0) Overall, Offense (Spread), Defense (Split), returns 9 letterman 2 offensive 2 defensive starters with 22 letterman lost from a (4-7) 2A Div. II Bi-district playoff team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (receiver), Strengths on defense (defensive line).  Notes from the Coach: Coach Irwin will probably start 6 to 8 kids off of a (8-2) JV team, with most of the linemen being sophomores and juniors.  Graduating 22 seniors off of a (4-7 ) team and only returning 7 seniors this year, the younger kids will have to learn quickly and by the time they get to district, they expect to ready. 
Elysian Fields  - Coach Phil Castles (18-7-0) at Elysian Fields and (18-7-0) Overall, Offense (Multiple I), Defense (Multiple 3-4), returns 16 letterman 4 offensive 6 defensive starters with 17 letterman lost from a (10-3) 2A Div. II Quarterfinal playoff team.  Overall Strength (both offense and defense), Strengths on offense (running back), Strengths on defense (linebacker, defensive back).  Notes from the Coach: Must step up at QB and receiver.  Offensive and defensive line must mature.
Gilmer Harmony  - Coach Jerry Blankenship, returns 15 letterman 7 offensive 7 defensive starters with 6 letterman lost from a (8-3) 2A Div. I Bi-district playoff team. 
Gladewater Union Grove  - Coach Marty Moore (4-16-0) at Gladewater Union Grove and (4-16-0) Overall, Offense (Multiple I), Defense (Split 6), returns 16 letterman 8 offensive 8 defensive starters with 3 letterman lost from a (1-9) team.  Overall Strength (defense), Strengths on offense (offensive line), Strengths on defense (linebacker).  Notes from the Coach:  Should be better with 16 starters returning ,team speed will be better.
Hawkins  - Coach Jason Boyd (21-31-0) at Hawkins and (21-31-0) Overall, Offense (Wing T), Defense (Split), returns 15 letterman 5 offensive 7 defensive starters with 7 letterman lost from a (7-4) 2A Div. II Bi-district playoff team.  Overall Strength (defense), Strengths on offense (quarterback), Strengths on defense (linebacker).
New London West Rusk  - Coach Billy Davis (77-78-0) at New London West Rusk and (97-84-0) Overall, Offense (Veer), Defense (5-2), returns 18 letterman 6 offensive 6 defensive starters with 8 letterman lost from a (1-9) team.  Overall Strength (defense), Strengths on offense (running back, offensive line), Strengths on defense (defensive line).  Notes from the Coach: The young players are returning with experience.
Troup  - Coach Andy Griffin (11-2-0) at Troup and (229-132-6) Overall, Offense (Wing T), Defense (Multiple), returns 11 letterman 8 offensive 3 defensive starters with 14 letterman lost from a (11-2) 2A Div. II Regional playoff team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (quarterback, running back, offensive line), Strengths on defense (linebacker).  Notes from the Coach: We should have an outstanding offensive line with several three-year starters.  This would give us a strong offensive unit.  On defense, we have a lot of younger players come through.  The kicking game will be strong with both kicker and punter returning. Our season depends on our defense developing into a good unit by district.
Winona  - Coach Scott Tyner (2-8-0) at Winona and (20-14-0) Overall, Offense (I), Defense (Split), returns 10 letterman 4 offensive 3 defensive starters with 18 letterman lost from a (2-8) team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (running back), Strengths on defense (cornerback, defensive back).  Notes from the Coach: Zach Lee, Derrick Creag, and Justin Phillips will combine for a very promising running back corps.  Up front, we will be very young with only one senior expected to start on either line.  We expect to grow and compete with our young squad in the best district in East Texas.
