Team Outlook
Brownwood  - Coach Steve Freeman (64-21-0) at Brownwood and (87-33-0) Overall, Offense (Multiple I - Power Option/ One Back-Spread/ Wishbone), Defense (Multiple 4-3), returns 19 letterman 6 offensive 3 defensive starters with 20 letterman lost from a (11-1) 4A Div. II Area playoff team.  Notes from the Coach: The Lions enter their Eight season under the reigns of Coach Steve Freeman and staff after completing the 2002 campaign with a semi-final run and the 2003 campaign with another undefeated regular season for the Lions.  The Lions return 6 offensive starters led by senior offensive lineman Lee Grimes (6'6'' 327) and junior running back Jamal Organ (1284 yds).  Defensively the Lions will sport two of the top linebackers in the state with senior Chris Evans (136 total tackles) and Britton Maxwell (138 total tackles).  The Lions will build around the two as they return 3 total starters.  Brownwood will once again play a tough non-district schedule beginning with 4A Brenham followed be Abilene Cooper and Abilene High in the Gordon Wood Classic. The Lions will then take on rival Stephenville and Cleburne to end non-district.  The Lions find themselves breaking ground with new foes in District 16-4A and Region II.  They will once again be prepared to find their way back to the State Championship game.  The Lions expect to have to fight to get there.
Hewitt Midway  - Coach Kent Bachtel (113-80-1) at Hewitt Midway and (126-117-1) Overall, Offense (I Back / Multiple), Defense (4-3), returns 22 letterman 7 offensive 6 defensive starters with 14 letterman lost from a (3-7) team.  Overall Strength (offense).  Notes from the Coach: Good senior class with quite a few returning players with game experience.  We have 2 receivers and 3 linemen back on offense.  On defense we have 3 linemen, 2 linebackers and 2 secondary returning.
Killeen  - Coach Sam Jones, Offense (Spread One Back), Defense (4-2-5), returns 32 letterman 9 offensive 3 defensive starters with 23 letterman lost from a (7-3) team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (quarterback), Strengths on defense (linebacker).  Notes from the Coach: Six senior starters hope to lead the Kangaroos to post season play.  Now is the time to lead the Roos into the playoffs for the first time since 2001.
