Team Outlook
Beaumont Central  - Coach Open, returns 12 letterman 3 offensive 2 defensive starters with 28 letterman lost from a (10-3) 4A Div. I Quarterfinal playoff team.
Beaumont Ozen  - Coach Thomas Brooks (14-6-0) at Beaumont Ozen and (78-35-0) Overall, Offense (Multiple), Defense (4-3), returns 18 letterman 4 offensive 6 defensive starters with 30 letterman lost from a (6-4) team.  Overall Strength (defense), Strengths on offense (receiver), Strengths on defense (linebacker).  Notes from the Coach: I feel we are going to be good.  We have the skill players back; we just lost a lot of good linemen.  Our offensive linemen from the JV will have to step up for us.  If they do, we are capable of going a long ways in the playoffs.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville  - Coach David Williams (55-51-0) at Little Cypress-Mauriceville and (55-51-0) Overall, Offense (Multiple I), Defense (4-3), returns 18 letterman 6 offensive 5 defensive starters with 25 letterman lost from a (5-5) team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (quarterback), Strengths on defense (linebacker).  Notes from the Coach: Our team will have to really come together and play well as a group.  We do not have the individual "stars" that we have had in the past.  We do, however, have a better overall "team".  We will have to be aggressive on defense, sound in the kicking game, and solid on offense in order to be successful.  I order for this years team to get to the "next level", or offensive and defensive lines will have to mature.  Also our young offensive skill players need to grow up in a hurry.
Lumberton  - Coach John Fuller (17-21-0) at Lumberton and (67-53-0) Overall, Offense (3-back Spread), Defense (4-2-5), returns 21 letterman 5 offensive 2 defensive starters with 17 letterman lost from a (3-7) team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (quarterback), Strengths on defense (linebacker).  Notes from the Coach: QB Sean Gilley returns for his junior season after starting 11 games in his first two years as a varsity player.  Gilley passed for over 1600 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. Hunter Bittle returns at RB after rushing for 283 yards in 6 games as a soph.  Junior receivers Wade Abercrombie and Stephen Morgan caught 9 passes each last season for 81 and 73 yards respectively. Five letter winners return on the offensive line.  Justin Northcutt and Mike Williams have started more than 15 games in their high school career.  Junior Weston Dancewitz (6'4'' 250) has only played one year of competitive football, but should be a very good player.  Defensively, the Raiders return 9 players with varsity experience.  Strong safety Roy Choate is the team's top returning tackler and defensive leader.  Linebacker Casan Scott as well as a solid sophomore year.  The pair is joined be lineman Trent Tipton, Doug Thornton and Holden Jenkins, linebackers Jadrian Wooten and Cade Newton, and defensive backs Josh Harwell and Jason Cox.  The Raiders will add a solid group from the JV that finished 7-2-1 in 2003, including running backs Matt Kucera, Matt Brisendine and Jesse Kelly.
Nederland  - Coach Larry Neumann (93-38-1) at Nederland and (93-38-1) Overall, returns 8 offensive 9 defensive starters from a (9-4) 4A Div. II Regional playoff team.
Port Neches-Groves  - Coach Matt Burnett (66-44-0) at Port Neches-Groves and (66-44-0) Overall, Offense (Split Backs), Defense (8 man front), returns 27 letterman 5 offensive 7 defensive starters with 20 letterman lost from a (9-3) 4A Div. II Area playoff team.  Overall Strength (defense), Strengths on offense (running back, receiver, kicker), Strengths on defense (linebacker, cornerback, defensive back).  Notes from the Coach: We lost 5 senior offensive linemen, so it is important to develop players in that area in our non-district games.  Defense has a lot of experience.  I expect the defense to be tough to score on.
Vidor  - Coach Jeff Mathews (23-28-0) at Vidor and (23-28-0) Overall, Offense (Spread), Defense (4-2-5), returns 15 letterman 2 offensive 8 defensive starters with 11 letterman lost from a (2-8) team.  Overall Strength (defense), Strengths on offense (quarterback), Strengths on defense (linebacker).  Notes from the Coach: With 9 new starters on offense, we must grow up fast.
