Team Outlook
La Joya - Coach Oscar Villasenor (23-9-0) at La Joya and (102-81-2) Overall, Offense (Multiple I), Defense (4-3 Variations), returns 42 letterman 7 offensive 7 defensive starters with 18 letterman lost from a (6-4) team.  Overall Strength (both offense and defense), Strengths on offense (quarterback, running back, offensive line, kicker), Strengths on defense (defensive line, linebacker, cornerback, defensive back).  Notes from the Coach: We expect a great year with a lot of returning starters and depth and every position.  Defensively, we will be fast, strong and aggressive and offensively we will expect to put up a lot of points on the board.
McAllen Memorial  - Coach Bill Littleton (2-8-0) at McAllen Memorial and (28-16-0) Overall, Offense (Wing T), Defense (4-3), returns 14 letterman 5 offensive 3 defensive starters with 32 letterman lost from a (2-8) team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (running back), Strengths on defense (defensive line).  Notes from the Coach: Team will be stronger due to the first year under their belt with the new system, plus a year of off season.  They will also be stronger and much more physical.  Need to win early to give momentum for the rest of the schedule.
McAllen  - Coach Tony Harris (46-39-0) at McAllen and (46-39-0) Overall, Offense (Dog-Bone), Defense (Split), returns 12 letterman 4 offensive 3 defensive starters with 29 letterman lost from a (5-4) team.  Overall Strength (defense), Strengths on offense (offensive line), Strengths on defense (linebacker, cornerback).  Notes from the Coach: We have a good group of returning offensive linemen and young skilled kids.  We need the skill guys to grow up quick and the defense to keep us in it until the offense catches up.
McAllen Rowe  - Coach Gary Lauer (22-21-0) at McAllen Rowe and (22-21-0) Overall, Offense (Option), Defense (3-4), returns 19 letterman 4 offensive 7 defensive starters with 25 letterman lost from a (7-3) 5A Div. I Bi-district playoff team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (running back), Strengths on defense (Linebacker, defensive back).  Notes from the Coach:  We look to make a run at the district title again this year with 19 letterman and 11 starters.  Offensively, we should be better and our ground game should be much improved.  Defensively with 7 starters back from the #1 defense in the district, we should again be very good.
Mission Sharyland  - Coach Fred Sanchez (33-13-0) at Mission Sharyland and (55-23-0) Overall, Offense (Wing T), Defense (53 Stack), returns 20 letterman 9 offensive 3 defensive starters with 24 letterman lost from a (11-2) 4A Div. II Regional playoff team.  Overall Strength (offense), Strengths on offense (quarterback), Strengths on defense (defensive line).  Notes from the Coach:  We expect to make the playoffs is one of our goals.  It's a different outlook for us with a new district and a different classification.  We graduated 9 starters on defense, but we will be moving some offensive starters to defense.  If we can stay healthy and the team chemistry gels, we could be very competitive.
Rio Grande City  - Coach Greg Lara, Offense (Wing T), Defense (4-3), returns 13 letterman 6 offensive 7 defensive starters with 19 letterman lost from a (2-7) team.  Overall Strength (defense), Strengths on offense (running back, receiver), Strengths on defense (linebacker, cornerback, defensive back).  Notes from the Coach:  We will be a young team so we need a lot of help from our QB Eloy Amador and our offensive line. I feel our defense is going to hold there ground, but they need the offense to control the ball.  We have one of the best running backs in south Texas Roel Garza, but we need help from our FB and the offensive line.  There are some players that will have to step up and contribute to help this year’s team.
