Team Outlook

Iraan Braves (Red, Black) - Head Coach Joe Willis - (7-4-0) @ Iraan and (7-4-0) Overall, Offense (Spread Option), Defense (4-3), returns 15 letterman 8 offensive 7 defensive starters with 9 letterman lost from a (7-4) Area playoff team.   Iraan returns (2) 1st All-District players.  Overall Strength - offense, Offensive strength - quarterback, Defensive strength - defensive back.  Notes from the Coach: The 2005 team will be bigger, faster and stronger than in 2004.  Skill positions will be solid; offensive and defensive lines will be good but will lack depth.  The junior class will have several starting their 2nd year at the varsity level as in 2004 we had 5 soph. and 1 freshman start on varsity.

Marfa Shorthorns (Purple, White) - Head Coach Chris Henson -  (17-4-0) @ Marfa and  (17-4-0) Overall, Offense (Wing-T), Defense (4-2-5), returns 14 letterman 5 offensive 7 defensive starters with 8 letterman lost from a (8-2) team.  Marfa returns (1) 2nd All-State RB and (4) 1st All-District players.  JV Record (4-3).  Overall Strength - defense, Offensive strength - running back, Defensive strength - linebacker.  Notes from the Coach: 2005 Marfa football team should be very quick.  The defense will be the key to success in 2005.  The offense returns RB Luis Aguilar who led the team in rushing for the past two years.  This year's team works hard and has great leaders.
