Brownwood Lions (Maroon, White) - Head Coach Steve Freeman -  (70-27-0) @ Brownwood and  (94-38-0) Overall, Offense (Multiple I), Defense (Multiple 3-4), returns 23 letterman 6 offensive 9 defensive starters with 16 letterman lost from a (6-6) Div. II Area playoff team.  Brownwood returns (10) 1st All-District players.  JV Record (3-6-1), Freshman Record (7-3).  Team Strengths: strength, quickness, great work ethic, experience and winning attitude.  Notes from the Coach:  In 2003 the Brownwood Lions posted only the fourth undefeated regular season in a tradition rich football town, only to be awakened by a 0-4 beginning in the 2004 campaign.  A brutal non-district schedule (Abilene, Abilene Cooper, Stephenville, Brenham) and a youthful rebuilding year presented early season challenges that the Lions overcame in route to an eventual 12 game run, dropping the area game to a strong Corsicana Team.  The 2005 Brownwood Lions will return 6 offensive and 9 defensive starters with senior linebacker Britton Maxwell (6-1,210,4.5) the cornerstone rock leading the Lion defense as one of the top inside linebackers in the state.  Senior running back Jamall Organ (5-10,185) will lead a perennial running attack with junior quarterback returner Jarrett Lee (6-2, 180) another collegiate strong armed talent, pushing the football down field to top recruit senior receivers Bart Johnson (6-0, 180, 4.5), and Kye Darden (6-0, 185, 4.38).  Top defensive talent johnse Howard (6-3, 195, 4.5) will, along with quarterback Lee, keep the college recruiters' trail hot in Brownwood.  The 2005 Lions understand the persistency of recapturing the 2004 campaign and look to push forward with a deep and threatening playoff run in 2005, as the Lions are tapping into the bottom end of Class 4A enrollment.  Realignment this time may be interesting for faithful Lion followers.
