Team Outlook

Boerne Greyhounds (Purple, White, Silver) - Head Coach Tommy Bludau -  (34-12-0) @ Boerne and  (176-80-4) Overall, Offense (Veer), Defense (50), returns 23 letterman 8 offensive 5 defensive starters with 26 letterman lost from a (12-2) Div. I Semifinalist team.   Boerne returns (2) 1st All-State players (G-K), and (4) 1st All-District players.  JV record (10-0), Freshman record (3-6-1).  Overall Strength - offense, Offensive strength - quarterback, offensive line, kicker, Defensive strength - linebacker, punter.  Notes from the Coach: We have team speed and size.  We must find some go to receivers.  4 out of 5 offensive linemen are back and we have good depth.  On defense, our 2 returning linebackers were both All-district.  Both are very good at their position.  Must find 2 defensive ends and 2 in the secondary to round out the defense.  We will have speed and quickness on defense.  Our district is very competitive.  We must play good football week in and week out.  The non-district schedule is very competitive also.

Castroville Medina Valley Panthers (Black, Orange, White) - Head Coach Brian Emerson -  (12-18-0) @ Castroville Medina Valley and  (100-68-0) Overall, Offense (Spread), Defense (4-4), returns “NA” letterman “NA”  offensive “NA”  defensive starters with “NA”  letterman lost from a (6-4) team.  MD returns (1) 3rd All-State DB, and (3) 1st All-District players.  JV record (6-4), Freshman record (5-5).  Overall Strength - defense, Offensive strength - quarterback, Defensive strength - linebacker.  Notes from the Coach: We will be in our 2nd year of the spread offense, so our timing; reads and adjustment will be better.  Familiarity with the offense will also be beneficial.  Defensively, we should be improved, but need a DT and a DE to step up and help anchor the defense.  Our kids have gained a great deal of strength and confidence over the past 3 years due to a lot of time spent in the weight room.  Playing in what is arguably one of the toughest districts in the state has seasoned our players and made them better, more competitive athletes.
